UBD PhD Student Completes Dual Internships at BoRIIS, Universiti Malaysia Sabah and IBS, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak under Borneo Studies Network Mobility Programme
The PhD student, Sinil Lee, has recently completed his second internship at the Borneo Research Institute of Indigenous Studies (BoRIIS), Universiti Malaysia Sabah, under the Borneo Studies Network (BSN) Student Mobility Programme. His first internship was at the Institute of Borneo Studies (IBS), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak in August 2023.
Sinil, a dedicated PhD student at the Akademi Pengajian Brunei (APB), Universiti Brunei Darussalam, was conducting a research project entitled ‘Perceptions, prospects, and challenges towards closer regional cooperation in Borneo, and the benefits and implications for Brunei’. His research involves comprehensive interviews, detailed observations and thorough analysis of texts.
These internships have provided Sinil with invaluable experiences, significantly enriching his research and contributing to his personal and professional development. He has gained exclusive insights and perspectives from both institutions, which have been instrumental in shaping his academic journey.
Sinil is the first postgraduate student to undertake internships at two different universities under Borneo Studies Network. This mobility activity as well as the achievement that Sinil has attained during the internships have underscored the success of the student mobility arrangement under the BSN, highlighting the programmes’s role in fostering academic and research collaboration.
